CSSJockey Featured on Alltop.com

Isn’t that so cool?

Hell yeah!! And I’m so excited about it. Have been closely following Guy Kawasaki for around 2 years now and finally being featured on one of his project Alltop.com makes me feel on cloud 9!!

I have always loved his ideology and followed his videos, posts, tweets. It always gave me something to learn from. For this reason I think Alltop.com is a great platform to be associated with as it gives a varied exposure to online businesses and personals while providing them a space to pool all resources they need.

So, here I’m people, featured on Alltop and feeling on Top of the World!! And I encourage you all to be here too!

1. As many basic users were not able to figure out how to access the dashboard after activating the plugin and then log out – we added the option to enable or disable a LOGIN Link in the footer of the Coming Soon Page.

For all our basic users out there, I’d like to share a quick-tip :

You can access your WordPress website’s dashboard by visiting:

http://www.your-website.com/wp-admin

This might help you just in case you feel lost, some time.

2. We have made significant changes to the CSS, so now you can display only a Coming Soon message without specifying a heading without breaking the layout of the page (the email subscription form and the footer, more specifically). Also, the style information has been so tailored that it does not conflict with other themes and plugins that you might be using..

3. We have also fixed the issues being created by the date setup and the Count Down Timer – it should work perfectly now.

I have released an immediate update to the Custom Coming Soon Pages Plugin – The update introduces another default theme for the Default Coming Soon Page which is quite similar to the original one but without the Count-Down Timer. So all of you who have upcoming projects but are not sure about the launch date – Grab an updated copy of the Plugin from the WordPress Plugin Repository and put it to good use

What are we looking for?

In Designers:

The candidate must be a highly self-motivated team player and a quick learner who is capable of working efficiently in strict time constraints, independently and as a part of a team. Adobe Photoshop will be the primary design tool, though knowledge of Illustrator or Fireworks would be a great asset and add weight to your eligibility for the post.
We are looking for the following key skills in a designer…

1. Must understand the basics of layers, positioning, blending and grouping
2. Must be familiar with color modes, blending modes and effects
3. Must be an expert with pen, selection and other tools
4. Must know and be able to use Photoshop Filters and Actions
5. Must have a good sense of color schemes and placement of web elements

Most important of all, the designer must be able to *get* the client’s requirements and work accordingly.

In Developers:

The candidate must be able to write W3C valid, table-less xHTML and CSS mark up. The candidate should be able to write xHTML code using both Strict and Transitional mark up. Additional requirements for developers are strong programming skills in PHP and knowledge of popular Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, PostNuke, Magento and OSCommerce. The candidate should be able to work efficiently in strict time constraints and in accordance with the guidelines from clients.

I’ve been working on this project off and on for some time however, due to my hectic schedule and projects in hand it had been in one day basket. But I’m glad to have it up and running finally.

What is CSSJockey?

CSSJockey.com is my work showcase and personal blog where I’ll be sharing everything that interests me and will help You to make your web presence unique and practical.

Let me answer what I am mostly being asked, “Why I chose this name?“. CSS is a short name of Cascading Style Sheets which is used to create websites with current standards (click here to know more about CSS). Jockey as you all know is the one who drives or operates something just like a Disc Jockey or a Polo Player. With me, CSS is the driving force and I am the Jockey.

From Hobby to Profession

Back in 2001 I tried my hands on web-development technologies and created websites for my friends and family. Didn’t know enough about the potential of this creativity so I diverted myself into BPO industry for 6 years and worked with Convergys and Dell. I was well recognized for my work and out of the box ideas. But what brought me out in the lime light was again my creative potential of web-development and programming. Since that was limited to the organization I worked for, it was not enough to fulfill my appetite for my passion.

In September, 2007 I finally purchased my own domain  mohitaneja.com to share best practices and knowledge which I launched on 1st Jan, 2008. I got a lot of appreciation for Mohit’s Blog design and quite a number of web-development projects. I could only do freelancing after my office hours so I ended up working for 16 to 18 hours daily.

My personal life was lost somewhere between my passion and full-time job, so after doing complete analysis I decided to live my passion forever.
