CJ Christmas Message WordPress Plug-in:

If you love to spread the Christmas cheer around, we’re sure you’d wanna get your hands on this first. This plug-in helps you setup a custom message with cool graphics for all your visitors. This message can be a welcoming season’s greetings or may be a news flash for the new attractions on your website.

It’s like putting up a placard and be assured to grab your visitor’s attention. It will leave your visitor’s smiling and looking for more on your web-site. The beauty of this plug-in is, once a visitor has come across this message they will not be given the same surprise every time they visit the same page. However, they will see this surprise message the next day they visit the same page. This is because the cookies are set to expire in 24 hours.

So, let us not stop you anymore, go ahead and be the first to flaunt it to your visitors.

Hello,
How I adapt this plugin to my website? http://www.szuwarygoniadz.pl My website use from this: Magazine Basic theme designed by c.bavota

08 Mar, 2010

You can add this plugin to your site as you normally add other plugins, Upload the folder on wp-content/plugin folder and activate this under Plugins » Installed Menu. You can update the settings under Settings menu. Let me know if you need more help in this.

14 Mar, 2010

On motive Word Press Default 1.6 your plugin is works correctly. But on Magazine Basic theme designed by c.bavota not. What should I do?

14 Mar, 2010

Please check if the theme has wp_footer() and wp_head() functions in footer.php and header.php. This plugin require these two default functions to work.

15 Mar, 2010

yes, I have both function

24 Dec, 2009

Good looking plugin but how the heck do you turn it off, stuck on screen even on this site, needs a action to turn it off. PS i use a netbook

24 Dec, 2009

There’s a close link which will disable the panel for number of days you set for cookies, or you can also disable the plugin from settings as well.

If you are facing issues with the resolution and placement of the panel, you can edit the styles to set its position from the top.

Hi there, i have the same problem as the others, everything is saved fined and my themes (tried this on 2 different sites) have wp_head() and wp_footer() functions.

Tried it without success at: http://bit.ly/8w9C9a and http://bit.ly/7FPgvF .

It looks really cool in your site, i hope to have this up and running and customizing soon.

Please advice.

17 Dec, 2009

Hi,

Nice script, but it`s not working for me. i do have both wp_ functions (footer, head) but no luck. I`m running on a wordpress 2.8.4 with thematic theme, simplecart and wp-ecommerce plugin.

any idea how to make it work?

16 Dec, 2009

I am enjoying your plug-in as a nice little greeting box – easy to change graphic! Thanks!! Maybe after Dec 25 you can modify the plug-in (create new) that is a super charged greeting box with lots of options, rotating messages, etc.

16 Dec, 2009

Thanks, A brand new plugin is almost ready to display welcome message with a lot of options. Will release it next year :)

14 Dec, 2009

hi , i hope to make in ie6 it like ie7 and firefox

14 Dec, 2009

I just blogged about the Christmas Message Plugin on my blog: BloggerSum.Com. This plugin is compatible with the free WP plugin: Let it Snow – that lets snowflakes fall on your blog. See it in action on my blog if interested.

I also updated my Twitter template into the Christmas theme offered here and I’m now definitely in the festive Christmas cheer mood!

Great free offers – Christmas themed Wp plugin + Twitter – thanks for sharing.

14 Dec, 2009

Hey,
you made a very cool plugin.

I am gonna customize my Christmas Cheer right now!

14 Dec, 2009

Hi.
Congratulations. Very nice plugin!
One question: it’s possible to change the cookie to expire in two days, instead of one day?
Best regards.

14 Dec, 2009

Added an option to set number of days to expire the cookie from plugin settings page, Please upgrade to the latest version and enjoy!!

13 Dec, 2009

Hi again , it seems to conflict with the plugins ‘Smooth Slider’ and ‘Pretty Photo’. They stop working when I enable yours. ??? thanks!

13 Dec, 2009

Hello, You made a nice message, thank you, but it is not working for me. I Installed the plugin Christmas messages. But i am new to this all (WordPress) but I do like it. The problem is that the message does not come up. Everything is funcioning normal. I do not know what the problem is. i use atahualpa as theme, have about 6 plug-ins installed. Then you say:
For trouble free execution, this plugin requires your theme to have wp_head() and wp_footer() functions.
But i do see in the header.php for example:

So, i really do not know how to change this that the message is working.
I need some help, please.

15 Dec, 2009

I have the same problem and the same theme.

12 Dec, 2009

Very handy pluggin and very relevant too. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

12 Dec, 2009

Hello!

Nice plugin, Just wanna know can we set by default when visitor first see offer then it won’t pop up again.Means no need to forcefully click on “close”

12 Dec, 2009

You can modify the jQuery in the plugin file however the display is controlled by cookies so once the user click on close link the popup won’t show again the same day.

12 Dec, 2009

very nice packages for christmas.

Thanks

12 Dec, 2009

help me

12 Dec, 2009

Please let me know how can I help

12 Dec, 2009

Hi I was searching your site – you know I’m a woman and “curiosity” is my second name .

I have to close 5 times the pop up and thats is nerving.

is there a way to say: hi pop up if there is a visitor you have to pop up only one time ?

I hope you understand my meanings ;)

thanks a lot

regards
Monika

12 Dec, 2009

I think you don’t have cookies enabled on your browser. This plugin stores a cookie which restrict the pop up to display again once its closed.

12 Dec, 2009

Hm…my Santa puts him self behind an embedded video? Could I fix that to somehow? Just noticed that. Now I’m going to find out how I can put him on top so I could close it…here I still can and write behind him! *s*

12 Dec, 2009

You can update the styles for #xmas{} placed in cj-xmas-message/theme/style.css with the following code:

#xmas{
position:fixed;
width:500px;
height:430px;
top:100px; // Specify the top position in pixels
left:50%;
margin-left:-250px;
overflow:hidden;
z-index:99999; // This will bring the Santa on top
}

12 Dec, 2009

Nice idea but doesn’t work for me. No message shows and I don’t see any code in the page source. Tried it with JQ theme and with default and a couple others. Tried with Firefox, IE8 and Chrome.

I have these plugins installed: Akismet, AStickyPostOrderER, Fast and Secure Contact Form, Google Analyticator, Lightbox Plus, SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam.

Nothing too esoteric but some javascript that might be conflicting I guess. All plugins are up to date and so is WP.

12 Dec, 2009

Forgot to say: Settings seem to be saved OK. Plugin is activated and message is activated in plugin settings. I disabled all other plugins and still didn’t work. Not seeing any error messages. Just seems that the plugin just isn’t being called for whatever reason.

12 Dec, 2009

Make sure your theme is coded right and has wp_head() and wp_footer() functions in header.php and footer.php files.

12 Dec, 2009

Like I said: Tried it with default theme and several others. Plugin is not being called and therefore does not do anything.

12 Dec, 2009

I hope you have the cookies enabled on your browser, this plugin requires cookies enabled and wp_head() and wp_footer() functions to work.

13 Dec, 2009

All cookies accepted in 5 different browser types. It’s not a browser issue. Nothing of the plugin gets to the browser.

wp_head() and wp_footer() functions are present in most of the themes I tested it with.

No idea what the problem is. I give up on this one. Good luck with your plugin anyway.

12 Dec, 2009

Hi Mohit,..
very nice packages for christmas.

Thanks

12 Dec, 2009

What controls how many times a user will see the greeting? Are there ways to control that?

12 Dec, 2009

Its controlled by cookies via jQuery and expires in one day.

12 Dec, 2009

I was expecting the buzz of this plugin from you to me before launching it anyways nice plugin and well built . This plugin can be used for some announcements or contests other than only christmas :) :)

Off topic : How do you create so clean and neat boxes for the images in your post?? Is there any plugin for that ?? Pls let me know?? ;)

12 Dec, 2009

Due to festive season there’s a lot of pressure from clients to finish the sites asap and managing your own site with this time schedule is really not easy :)

The images are stylized via CSS only.

11 Dec, 2009

The settings are being saved properly and there also seems to be no error or something like that, it just won’t actually show up on my website. I installed it on a friend’s weblog and it also wouldn’t work with him…

Sorry for all the hassle but I appreciate your help!

12 Dec, 2009

Please check if you theme has wp_head() function in the header and wp_footer() function in the footer.php if not please include them to make your theme compatible to most of the plugins.

11 Dec, 2009

Thank you for the great background and plugin, we’re using both!

11 Dec, 2009

Thanks!! I am glad you like it.

11 Dec, 2009

Warning: stripslashes() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in C:\Program Files\Wamp\www\test_gunlugu\wp-content\plugins\christmas-message\cj-xmas-message.php on line 332

can you solve this problem for me?

11 Dec, 2009

Please check if its saving the settings in the plugin settings page.

11 Dec, 2009

It still won’t work, neither when using it with the default theme nor when activated one by one…

11 Dec, 2009

I installed the plugin and activated including the page in settings, but it does not show up when I open the site. The site is only in test on localhost so it is difficult to share at the moment. Any idea where to look or any known conflicts with other plugins?

11 Dec, 2009

Try using it with default theme and try activating the plugins one by one, please let me know if you find anything interesting.

14 Dec, 2009

I tried all suggestions here but still does not show up. Looks like I have the same problem as Ruben.
Would like so much to make it work since I love the plugin.

11 Dec, 2009

Great plug-in! But it just won’t show up on my website… I tried everything and reinstalled it a couple of times, enabled and disabled it. Still, it won’t work… Can you please help?

11 Dec, 2009

I just checked your site and I don’t see the code on the page, You may have it deactivated however you can try using it with default theme and try activating other plugins one by one, please let me know if you find anything interesting.

11 Dec, 2009

Hi,

first thanks a lot for this plugin :)
I have one question. It will be nice if you make your plugins compatible with WPMU too. I have a site in WPMU and wanted to use this plugin as a Greading message to all my visitors but as i install it, it shows in the Contol Panel but when i activate it, it wont work on main site.. :(

11 Dec, 2009

Hi Romeo, It works on WPMU however site wide activity feature is not available, will try to add this in new versions and future plugins. You can activate the plugin on WPMU for each blog as I did on the plugin demo site: http://plugins.cssjockey.com/xmas-message/

I hope it solves the problem for now and I’ll try to implement this in future for sure.

Thanks for your support!!

11 Dec, 2009

Hi Mohit,

thanks for the answer. My Main Blog Template uses other JavaScript and maybe this is the reason why the plugin isn’t showing.

Is there any shortcode or php function to call the plugin? so i can put it manually somewhere in the footer.

Thanks a lot for your answer..

11 Dec, 2009

Very nice plugin, thanks for sharing

11 Dec, 2009

@All Thanks for the love!! We would love to see your twitter profiles and the messages on your site so please share your twitter and website links here..

11 Dec, 2009

Nice! Then I will install it right now and change some code’s!! Merry Christmas! :)

11 Dec, 2009

I can see that it is a “closed-button” BUT!! i’ve got a really small laptop and the santa is locked! To the bottom and I cant close it, I dont see the button, I cant scroll it, and now I dont even see what I am writing!!! This kind of laptops are really popular in Sweden, a lot of my readers have those. Is it possible to put the Santa higher up so all people could se the close-button?
Hihi… I have no idea how I spell now, write behind the big santa!

11 Dec, 2009

Sure you can change the style.css file placed in plugins theme folder. Update the top value of #Xmas.

11 Dec, 2009

again a good gift from CJ, Well i will definitely install this plugin and yes since i can tweak the code a little bit and can do some “Photoshoping” so i will be using this plugin to wish my readers for many other occasions.

Merry Christmas CJ.

11 Dec, 2009

It surely grabbed my attention! I think it’s very clever idea and very funny Santa. I’ll share it .
