WordPress Plugin – Custom Coming Soon Pages

Custom Coming Soon Pages WordPress Plugin allows you to display a Customized Coming Soon Page or Under Construction page to normal visitors or regular members of your WordPress based website or Blog – while the Site Administrators see the fully functional website with the applied theme and active plugins as well as a fully functional Dashboard.

Custom Coming Soon Pages WordPress Plugin will enable you to perform upgrades, fix nasty bugs or preview jazzy enhancements to your design live on your WordPress based website or blog without letting your users and normal visitors see crappy error messages or changes to the design until you really want them to.

More Benefits »

Domain Age is a significant metric that is considered by many Search Engines among other factors while ranking your website. So if you have a unused domain, you can use the Custom Coming Soon Pages Plugin on a fresh WordPress install instead of your web host’s landing page. Restrict your host from pointing your domain to an ad-farm when you can make a mark with a Coming Soon Page customized to project your Brand even before you launch.

Custom Coming Soon Pages Plugin is also capable of displaying a Count Down Timer if you plan to launch on a Specific Date. You can also let your users subscribe to your website so that they can get notified via email whenever you launch. Integrated Twitter and Facebook features lets your visitors follow you on these social networks until you launch.

Features »

  1. Controlled Access:
Only Normal Visitors and Regular Members will see the Custom Coming Soon Page. If the Site Administrators are logged in, they will not see the Custom Coming Soon Page but will be able to view the fully functional blog with the current applied theme and active plugins as well as full access to the WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Customizable Content:
Customize the Title of the Coming Soon page as well as the coming soon message that is displayed from the Plugin Settings in your Dashboard.
  3. Customizable Backgrounds:
Specify any color for the background or use an image of your choice from the Plugin Settings in your WordPress dashboard.
  4. Create your own Custom Coming Soon Page templates:
You can create your own Custom Coming Soon Page templates using xHTML / CSS / PHP and plug them into the plugin for use.
  5. Countdown Timer:
Going to launch your website on a Specific Date? Specify it in the Plugin Settings and Display a cool Count Down Timer on your Custom Coming Soon Page.
  6. Know-When-We-Launch:
Let your users subscribe to your website and get notified via email when you launch.
  7. Social Networks:
Integrated Twitter and Facebook features lets your visitors follow you on these social networks until you launch. Just specify your user ID in the plugin settings in your WordPress Dashboard.

I use WP 2.7.1 and PollDaddy 1.0. But it still does not work, because in the admin panel PollDaddy does not keep the mail adderss and the password. If I enter it (and they are correct!), and when I click send , mail and password disappear. So I cannot use the plugin, if these data will not be kept in the admin area options of the PollDaddy plugin!Any idea? Thanks Reply

Ok that’s great. According to my knowledge The Wordpress Maintenance are .Back Up,Checking Plugins,Updating etc..WordPress,Check Your Links,Improving Security etc..1) Backup your database and your files. You can use a number of plugins (Backup buddy is a good one) to do this, or if you trust your hosting company, there is often a file and database backup utility within your cpanel.2) Update plugins. This one is easy. Go to your plugins and look for any that need to be updated. All you need to do is click the update button and you’re done.3) Make sure you have the latest version of WordPress. WordPress will tell you on your dashboard if you need to upgrade. Simply follow the instructions – it’s not difficult.4) If you’re not using the akismet plugin, you can get it here – AKISMET . This will protect your site from spam. Reply

Placing it into the "mu-plugins" folder makes it automatically activated for each user's blog.Is there a way to enable by default the coming soon page when the plugin is activated ? Normally, you should create a small size background which can repeat itself, however, if it cannot be done as a pattern you would need to analyze the design for the same and create the graphic which can work with all screen resolutions max size can be set as 1920px by 1050px. Reply

I could not get the FREE plugin to work very well (every time I load the page a second time on any one computer it downloads a .gv file to the computer instead of loading the page??!!), so I finally decided to buy the upgraded version at NetChillies...I could not get the thing to activate because whenever I clicked the activation link it would take me to a 404 page. I submitted my question to the support forum and got an answer that was pathetic, "try it again and use your username and password for netchillies to activate" Are you serious?I wrote back explaining the problem again and have not gotten any response. It's been over a week and I'm still not getting a response. Where do I go for real support, for a refund, or for a quality plugin? Reply

@abhishek You don't access the database. In the new plugin you select the 'Emails' tab and export the CSV file for uploading to your mail program of choice.@CSS Jockey - It might be an idea to add some functionality to allow for simple integration of more common email software like Campaign Monitor, MailChimp, etc. This way the emails are automatically saved to the user's email software of choice. Just a thought! Reply
    1. Dec 13, 2010 / CSSJockey:
@Snapper Yes I thought of the same, however its gonna be a bit tedious to integrate this with popular software APIs and keep it updated with the changes on third party software. Moreover its gonna increase the cost of plug-in so decided to save it as CSV which is the preferred Import method by every software we normally use. Reply

You would need to login to your website as admin to view if as fully functional website. If you are using the free version, you would need to enable it for normal users however the Pro version is a lot simpler and have a lot of customization options. Reply

        1. Dec 12, 2010 / CSSJockey:
As I mentioned earlier, The free plug-in sends an email once a user subscribed on your website and you would need to manually collect the email addresses from your inbox and create the list. If you are not getting emails upon subscription, please check the plug-in settings and server settings for issues. Reply

Works nicely...looks great as well! But a couple of small flaws in the plan1)I choose No timer as the theme and I no longer can choose a custom background :( I set up everything with a white bg and it was looking nice but choosing "No timer" means..i have to give up the choice of white bg. Why is the timer holding me hostage? :P Can I make any modifications to the code that will allow me to remove the timer with a custom background?2)And I would really like to make this only for my frontpage, I would still direct users to internal pages for certain transactions etc. I love the way it looks, is there any way I can modify it so that it works only for the front page?On the whole...nice classy job for a first release! Two things -1. It says above that the plugin is capable of displaying a countdown timer. However, I find that I have no option to turn the timer off. If I empty the fields, I'm told that I must enter a valid date. However, I'm not sure when the client plans to go live.2. More pressing is the fact that I can't make it work. I just want to display a single web page (I named it index.html), so I put it in the custom_xHTML directory, and added the image to the images folder. But I keep getting these 3 errors: (I replaced the overly long wordpress directory with )Warning: sp_override(themes/custom_xhtml/index.php) [function.sp-override]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /wp-content/plugins/custom-coming-soon-page/cj-coming-soon.php on line 518Warning: sp_override(themes/custom_xhtml/index.php) [function.sp-override]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /wp-content/plugins/custom-coming-soon-page/cj-coming-soon.php on line 518Warning: sp_override() [function.include]: Failed opening 'themes/custom_xhtml/index.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/php-4.4.8-1/share/pear') in /wp-content/plugins/custom-coming-soon-page/cj-coming-soon.php on line 518 Reply

You need to select the theme with no timer, for custom xHTML page try renaming the directory on your server to all small letters "custom_xhtml". Let me know if you face any other issues. Reply

There's a bug when you use this plugin on a server which is case sensitive and you're using the custom_xHTML setting.the code has the folder as themes/custom_xhtml , but in the plugin it uses the include themes/custom_xHTML . This is causing problems under linux. To resolve the problem simply rename the custom_xHTML folder to be custom_xhtml .Thanks for this wonderful plugin. Keep it up. Reply

I would suggest you look for an alternative countdown script since the current script returns wrong time. If you set the script according to a particular timezone and the website is opened in a different timezone then hours left as viewed from original and the second timezone country would show different whereas for each country in the world, it should show same. I think this plugin is great, however for the sake of sanity, you might want to let your users know that the plugin will appear NOT WORKING if they are logged in. IE, if they are logged in when they install/configure the plug in, then the site will show which ever Theme is currently installed and they will not see the effects of the plug in unless they log out. This can be a bit aggravating. Reply

There is a serious issue with this plugin when you change themes, ..i installed with the default theme and everything worked fine, as soon as i changed themes all config settings were lost and refused to save again. (sometimes appearing as if they had).1.07 + wp2.8.6To ensure it was not my theme i went back to default and also tested with whiteboard and a few other 'out of the box' themes. No Go.This caused the form to break as the to/subject and other hidden fields set in the admin were not passed, let alone any of my styling.Solution, ..i just hard coded the styling into the template file, and then hardcoded the values into the mail.php script in my template file. This is a really nice plugin Mohit, but i lost a lot of hours and potential subscribers figuring this out, ...and the confidence of my client in the plugin.Sort it out and you are onto a winner as this is head and shoulders above anything else being offered, ..also perhaps consider create a table in the db and storing the email to be exported in csv with a check before sending for duplicates. If anyone needs help with this plugin in the areas mentioned above just drop me a line. I have tried all past versions of your plugin, problem is consistent in all versions.A Suggestion for next version - ability to specify your own favicon or use default favicon from the site's root directory. Reply

Hi, Great Plugin! One problem. New fresh install of WordPress 2.86 No other plugins but akismet. The page displays fine. When I enter an e-mail address and click the "Notify Me" button, the e-mail never sends. It isn't a spam or virus problem. I can send e-mail fine from Word Press. The 3 white/grey boxes in the bar move, like it is sending, but they never stop.Is there a place to set the mail server, port, etc?www.20daychallenge.com Thanks! Chuck cparish@penguinwebs.com Reply

This is a great idea. I just wish i could get it to work on my website. I am hoping that my wordpress installation is not the problem as to why it won't work (the setting won't update, timer is off, and so forth).Anyway, keep up the good work. I am surprised no one else came up with this idea. its perfect. Reply

Excellent plugin, is there anyway it can have a time out on the email sign up? For example, when I put an email in the box and submit maybe it can just timeout and say thanks even with no check on the sending just so people are reassured that it has gone through? thanks again! Reply

This is a great plugin - but was wondering if it's possible to disable the countdown timer? Sometimes you don't know when you're back up, and having the countdown time always display '0 Days, 0 Hours, 0 Minutes, 0 Seconds' is weird. The same would apply to a parked domain, as the suggestion in the plugin description goes. So, is there a clean way to disable the countdown timer?
