Update | Custom Coming Soon Pages Plugin – ver 1.03

Thanks to the user inputs and the feedback that’s kept pouring in since we’ve launched the Custom Coming Soon Pages WordPress Plugin 3 days ago – we are working hard to address any issues that our users have been facing. We’ve just released an updated version of the Custom Coming Soon Pages Plugin with the following key changes:

1. As many basic users were not able to figure out how to access the dashboard after activating the plugin and then log out – we added the option to enable or disable a LOGIN Link in the footer of the Coming Soon Page.

For all our basic users out there, I’d like to share a quick-tip :

You can access your WordPress website’s dashboard by visiting:

http://www.your-website.com/wp-admin

This might help you just in case you feel lost, some time.

2. We have made significant changes to the CSS, so now you can display only a Coming Soon message without specifying a heading without breaking the layout of the page (the email subscription form and the footer, more specifically). Also, the style information has been so tailored that it does not conflict with other themes and plugins that you might be using..

3. We have also fixed the issues being created by the date setup and the Count Down Timer – it should work perfectly now.

You can Download Custom Coming Soon Pages Plugin latest version from the WordPress.org Plugin Repository.

We’re absolutely delighted at how well you’ve received this plugin and are constantly supporting us with your inputs so that we can make it even better and serve you better. So please keep your valuable feedback coming! In case you still run into any issues, feel free to post in the Support Forums! We’ll be glad to assist you..

The email subscription tool on the page fails to send any emails to the email address entered in the ” email settings ” options. We get a thanks you confirmation but no email. Any particular setting or function that needs to be enabled to make this work?

I just want to say thank you for providing us a great plugin. Very useful and the default layout is simple and neat too. Great job!

This is brilliant!! I’m wondering how to intergrate the email sign up automatically with MailChimp?

why dont we add some banners on top or bottom of the this theme because that would allow owner to make money while page is under construction. can be google ads or some 125-125 banners. would be very impressive and popular

You can edit these pages as you want by adding your code in the index.php of the theme you are using. Just be careful while you do that.

Hey, thanks for the update, everything aligned now and looks nice, but i cant customise anything, i have no cache software on my wordpress as of yet. Even the text doesnt show up as the reason, And the image still remains broken. A live link is available on my name. Ive tryed the default too and the same happens, infact what you are viewing is the default, even when i do make changes it seems to stay the same.

Hope you are using the latest version, please try restoring the settings to default and see if that works. Let me know the output and share any error messages you see in the plugin options page.

Ive restored to the default and nothings changed visually anyways, its still the same as it was before. I dont get any error messages either.

I have just installed 1.04 via Wordpress’ automatic installer and I am having issues with the countdown timer. It constantly says:

54 Days, 21 Hours, 11 Minutes, 23 Seconds

no matter what I set the Launch Date to (it should be the 20th of November 2009)

Hi Geordie, Nice work on the background and logo.

I am updating the plugin files to version 1.05 with fixes to the Countdown Timer, it will be available in few minutes. Thanks for your support to make it perfect.

CSSJockey: Great work fixing the javascript. I updated the plugin and it seems to be working perfectly now.

Thanks for the compliment about the artwork. The background is from a free wordpress theme called irresistible, and the logo is by a friend of ours (we’re an indie band in Brisbane, Aus). I’m not sure if that “coming soon” box works with my background so I’ll probably just copy and paste the code but take out the box and the “under construction” image. Hope that’s ok with you. I’ll leave in the CSSJockey link of course.

This may be an area you want to work on in future, just the visual side of the page. I found the setup options a little bit confusing how I had to choose “custom background” to get those options working. I think it’d be good to be able to choose any options with the radio buttons (or even check boxes) like countdown timer, email input, login link etc. and then be able to choose background options independent of those settings. Just a thought.

One last thing, where do all the email addresses that people enter end up?
All the best

Never mind, just found an email with my test email address in my inbox.

While I’m in a bug reporting mood, there seems to be issues with character coding throughout the plugin. In the email I received: “Subscriber\\\’s Info @ The Liar\\\’s Chair”. Also I chose to use european apostrophes (´) instead of standard apostrophes (‘) in the spelling of the band’s name around the place (including the page title and various text boxes) otherwise the apostrophes turn out as \’ instead of just ‘

Thanks so much for the feedback. I will take care of this in next release.

Nice, will try to make it more user-friendly in future and Email addresses will sent to the email address you specify in plugin options.

Thank you for your great support. :)

The countdown timer still remains even after upgrade to v1.04. However, I think it’s the WP-Super-Cache’s problem. They may have some conflicts.

12 Nov, 2009

Hi Kevin, I fixed another bug in the countdown timer, new version 1.05 will be available in few minutes. Please upgrade your copy.

12 Nov, 2009

Thanks for the update and Count Down Timer fixes. However, the Coming Soon page still doesn’t show up sometimes even when I’m logged out. And it’s not showing the default template, but plain text instead.

12 Nov, 2009

I believe you are using some cache plugin, try clearing the cache from the plugin settings or deactivating the cache plugin.

12 Nov, 2009

Okay the coming soon page is showing properly now but the Count Down Timer isn’t working. It’s not counting and is showing inaccurate timer.

Could this be my wp-super-cache plugin problem?

12 Nov, 2009

Thanks Kevin, I fixed the issue and updated the new files as version 1.04, it should work fine now. Please upgrade and enjoy.
